Parris Island SC

The Parris Island Marine Corps Recruit Depot is a military base near Beaufort, South Carolina. MCRD Parris Island is the headquarters of the Eastern Recruiting Region. The main objective of Parris Island is to train newly enlisted Marines. Since US Marines are always on the front lines of all major conflicts and wars, Parris Island has to stand up to the task and train these new young men and women to defend our Constitution.
Newly enlisted Marine training consists of 3 phases. The first phase is Basic Learning. See the training matrix at the official Marine website: http://www.mcrdpi.usmc.mil. The second phase speaks for itself, Rifle Training. The third phase is the most difficult, Field Training. Marine Boot Camp training at Parris Island is supposed to be the toughest training of all the military forces in the US. We have all seen movies with Marine Boot Camp and can all semi understand what the Marine Recruit has to go through to be a full fledged Marine. Parris Island is where this happens.

1891 saw the first marines stationed at Parris Island and served in preserving life and property during hurricanes. There is rich history in this location. Approximately 18,000 recruits are trained at Parris Island each year.
